The Role
Education Liaison Officers (EDLOs) are responsible for providing educational support and advice to ADF families with dependent pre-school, primary and secondary school aged children.

As an EDLO, you will learn and understand the challenges facing ADF Families and work collaboratively with various stakeholders to provide the following:

  • Education assistance to Defence Families to empower and assist them to successfully integrate into the school community;
  • Build school capacity through education programs and resources to ensure a supportive education environment for students from Defence Families;
  • Provide a link between Defence and State/Territory and National education agencies.

This position is responsible for the South QLD region including Brisbane, Amberley/Ipswich and Darling Downs area and regular travel will be required across all the regions.

About our Team
Defence Member and Family Support Branch (DMFS), Directorate of Regional Engagement offers a broad range of programs and services to help Commanders, Australian Defence Force members and their families manage the military way of life. DMFS supports Defence families’ self-reliance and increases the capacity of the wider community to support the needs of Defence families.

The DMFS SQLD EDLO position will form part of the South Queensland team that consists of Military Support Officers, Family Liaison Officers, Defence Social Workers and Business Support Officer. DMFS South Queensland includes Area Offices in Amberley, Brisbane and the Darling Downs. The EDLO role offers integrated educational support to Army, Navy and Air Force families within this region and provides guidance and support to the Defence School Mentors and schools.
